Geneviève Douyon Flambert is a Haitian-American educator born and raised in the USA, who embraced a Caribbean reality the second half of her life. Writing provides insights in determining her identity, immersed in the on-going process of acquiring languages and accepting cultures. The author is fluent in English, French, Creole and Spanish and tries to use each in her writing, to express perceptions and representations unique to a part of the world where reality has been described as more incredible than fiction. Geneviève lives with her family on the two-nation island once called Kiskeya.
